How to Grow and Plant Horseradish

We propagate and sell Horseradish root cuttings. The root cuttings should be planted in cultivated soil that is well drained. Take care to plant them in their own location as they can spread and can be difficult to remove once established. Bury the root on it’s side horizontally about 1 inch deep and 6 inches apart. They are best planted in full sun to part sun. Keep well watered and weeded until established.

Horseradish is a vigorous perennial that forms very long roots that are great for making spicy condiments. If you think you liked horseradish from the store, you will love the taste of it home grown! You can also enjoy the leaves cooked in stir fries- they’re spicy with a mustard like flavour. It’s a very easy plant to grow and you can harvest the roots thoroughly and it will come back year after year. As long as you keep a small root fragment in the soil after harvest, they’ll keep on growing!
