Growing Tips
In order to produce fruit they require the pollination of the female Haskap we carry. They aren’t finicky about soil- we’ve seen them thrive in sandy soils, and clay soils as long as they are well drained. If your soil is poorly drained create a mound and plant them on top of that to ensure their roots aren’t saturated. They will fruit somewhat well in part sun, but will produce a lot more in full sun.
More about Haskaps
We can’t say enough good things about these bushes. Haskaps are the perfect fruit for extreme cold climates! Hardy to -50 C, disease free, easy to care for, and they produce super tasty blue fruits that are similar to blueberries but have a tart complexity that’s all their own. We’ve seen the flowers endure -7 C in a late spring frost and still produce a huge crop that year. These plants are truly bullet proof.
You can eat the berries right off the bush, make ice cream, add to smoothies, salads, sauces, you name it. Their nutritional value is off the charts! They’re also a relatively compact bush that can fit into smaller yards.
