Red maples are best planted in full sun and will tolerate part sun. Adaptable to many different soil types including dry sandier ones and wetter clayey soils.
Red Maple is a vigorous tree tolerant of many different soil types. It has inherent food value due to it’s sap that isn’t quite as sugary as Sugar Maple, but is still very valuable for tapping. It is fast growing, has tremendous wildlife value, and puts on a beautiful show of blooms very early on in the spring time that nourish pollinators. It can also has beautiful fall colour.
