Growing Tips 🪏

Currants are very low maintenance in their care needs. Currants are self fertile so you only need one bush to produce fruit. However, they will benefit from having multiple different bushes around for cross pollination. They are really adaptable and seem to thrive in most soil conditions, except for very waterlogged. They also don’t seem to love very hot, dry conditions. They produce an impressive crop when planted in part sun.

More about White Currant

Currants are such an easy and delicious perennial fruit to grow. They are one of the unique ones that still produce fruit in partial shade, making them a great choice for planting beneath other trees and shaded areas. They are delicious and full of antioxidants and vitamins. The fruit hang off of the branches like shiny jewels. Currants are extremely popular in Europe, and North America is only beginning to catch on. We love eating them fresh, or using them in wines, juices and fruit leather.
